I got back in my car and continued a little farther north to the city of Trinidad on the beach. It was a small town and the beach was SPECTACULAR! I parked at the overlook high above (the only place to park). Up top was a lighthouse. I hiked down to the beach below down many, many may steps. There were numerous gigantic boulders plopped down in the shallow waters of the Pacific that made the shoreline so interesting. I even spotted some seals relaxing on the rocks. The climb back up to the parking area was a tiring one. Up top I had some fish for lunch at a nearby restaurant.
I continued north and arrived at Redwood National Park. It was unique to cruise through forest with the world's tallest trees and then to emerge and drive along coast and then back through forest again. At 2PM I took a hike through the Lady Bird Johnson Grove with a park ranger. A couple hours later I continued north through Redwood park. I stopped at a meadow to watch some elk. There was a big male, tow babies and many ladies with the male elk.
Next I continued my drive on the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway that took me right past towering redwoods.
When I drove through Klamath I stopped to see a giant Paul Bunyan display/monument. I stopped for the day in Crescent City. In the evening I played some poker at the Elk Casino.
