Today was a busy day!  I decided to deviate from my plans.  Rather than exit Yosemite from the west and continue that direction I decided to go out the east side and explore that part of California today.  It took me about three hours just to get from the southern entrance to the exit of Yosemite.  Just outside the eastern entrance/exit on Tioga Pass was beautiful scenary and one of the most enjoyable scenic drives I've ever made.  Most people probably miss it while rushing to get in or out of the park or maybe don't even go through this side.  The road was great.  How many times in Florida have you seen people pull off the highway just to look around??  There were beautiful crystal clear glacial lakes surrounded by snow peaked mountains and even a couple waterfalls.

From that exit I detoured south a little on 395 to visit Devils Postpile National Monument.  I couldn't drive all the way to the park so I got on a chartered bus that made a scenic drive/tour and then finally arrived at the park.

I got off the bus at Devils Postpile Visitor Center.  From there I took the one mile roundtrip hike to the postpile which is a columnar basalt formation that formed from lava.

Later I got back on 395 but this time heading north.........
