On July 3rd I drove to Dinosaur National Monument and visited the Quarry which has an enormous fossilized block with hundreds (thousands?) of fossilized bones it. I never could have imagined something like this! Then I took an hour drive to go through the entrance on the other side of the park. I drove down into a canyon to view Steamboat Rock.

Thank goodness for this 4x4 rental or I never would have been able to return. The Echo Park drive was so steep, windy and bumpy that a 13 mile dirt road down the hill took me 75 minutes to drive!! I also drove to Harpers Corner and did a mile hike. Inside the canyon I found petroglyphs and an amazing entry into a cave in the side of a canyon wall. THE JOURNEY IS ALWAYS MORE REWARDING THAN THE DESTINATION.
