Drove 105 miles from the Badlands to Mount Rushmore and arrived at 10AM and set up camp at the KOA.  I took a hiking tour with a ranger around the site.  At 9PM there was a great show by the monument in the amphitheater and they lit up Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln.

PLEASE WRITE IN MY GUEST BOOK WHO YOU BELIEVE WAS THE GREATEST PRESIDENT AND WHY.

WHO DO YOU THINK WAS THE GREATEST PRESIDENT?

* If you didn't choose Washington then consider his role in leading the patriots to victory to establish our country.  Not to mention the fact that he was the first president.  But in my opionion, most important of all is that after serving eight years he was popular enough to continue serving, but chose to step aside to allow another to lead.  How many people could have relinquished that supreme power for the good of the people?

* However, if you did not choose Lincoln consider that the US may now be split in two parts!

*If you did not choose Jefferson think of his role in the establishment of the US and its documents.  As president he doubled the size of our country which ultimately led to further expansion west.

*If you did not choose Roosevelt then we may not have had a route cutting through from the Pacific to the Atlantic.  Not to mention his distinguished military career.

Greatest President
The greatest President was Washington; he realized that everything he does in the role will create precedence, not only for the US, but for the world. He was refused to be King (as offered to him by our founding fathers), and was the first man in recent history who willingly and peacefully gave up power (following the example of the Roman Cincinnatus). Granted he had his faults, like all men, but the legacy he left behind, and quality of his character will bare the test of time.

Glad you enjoyed South Dakota, we are planning a family trip there as well.
