Our first stop was in the city (town?) of Cholula. The highlight there was the church and it was wonderfully adorned and decorated. We drove around Cholula bit afterwards. Definitely not a modern place at all.
After some more driving we entered Puebla. We made a stop at a point that had a small staircase of ancient ruins from Mesoamerican cultures. Then after taking a hike up the above that I visited church on the top of the hill. From there were terrific 360 degree views of the city.
Lunch was interesting because it was a buffet with some typical local food. I really enjoyed the mole, which is a mixture of numerous peppers and chocolate. It was a great sauce prepared on chicken. There was even live music while we ate.
Next we moved into the more modern parts of Puebla. We visited the zocalo and of course the Cathedral of Puebla. From there we walked around and visited another magnificent church. Next we had some free time and I walked aroun with Valeria (from Costa Rica) and a girl, Tatianna (from Brazil). We explored the sweet streets for which Puebla was famous. Although there were a variety of sweets and candies that I have never seen before, I din't care to much for their flavors. So naturally we decided to have a beer in a bar before heading back on the bus.
I guess we made it back to the hostel somewhere between 8-9PM and Valeria and I deicded to walk around Zona Rosa. Of all things we ended up settling on Chinese food. After that we had some beers at an outdoor bar. It was a good time and I was so thankful to get to spend time with someone since I am traveling alone. Unfortunately she leaves tomorrow and I will have to find some other travelers to hang out with.
