We began the day with a 7 AM wakeup and our delegation left the hotel at 8:30 with a short walk through the city until we arrived at our first destination, the Sydney Tower. At the top of the tower we were treated with incredible a 360 degree view of Sydney. It was terrific!! We then split into three groups to go outside on the very top of the tower. We were each fitted with a blue jumpsuit and a harness that was attached to a rail all along a path on top of the tower. Not only did we have spectacular views outside atop the tower but we also walked on glass platforms that gave a view straight down and a sensation of floating over the city. The skywalk tower is at about the same height as the Eiffel Tower at 880 feet above the harbor below.

Next we took a walk to Darling Harbor. This was like Bayside in Miami, Florida with all kinds of shops and restaurants along the water. We took some free time to walk around. From there we took a boat trip on Port Jackson Bay (Sydney Harbor). this trip was a real treat. We had our own private boat for our delegation and the upstairs level was reserved for the leaders. We began the boat trip with lunch. The views throughout the sailing were spectacular! We actually sailed by and under the Sydney Bridge and past and around the Opera House.

Next on the itinerary we took a walk to an opal factory. We learned about the mining of opals and then an obligatory visit to the showroom.

At about 4:30PM we arrived at the Sydney Opera House. We were fortunate enough to receive a private tour inside of the Opera House. We visited four different auditorium/stages as well as the backstage areas. We learned about the development of such a radical architectural plan and about the 16 years and $105 million it took to complete this project.

At 6:30 PM we walked back to Darling Harbor for dinner.
