So there are some objectives for this year to make sure it wasn't a complete waste of time:
1) Enjoy myself
2) Relax, no point having bigger bags under my eyes at the end than I had at the beginning, so no squeezing too much into every trip
3) Lose weight. I have been meaning to do this for a long time, and work has always been my excuse for not having enough time to exercise. Well, no more work, no more excuse
4) THE BIG ONE...find myself. Or, failing that, find the meaning of life. Either will do.

It will be interesting to check back from time to time to see how I am doing against that list.

The overall plan is to do a series of separate trips, mostly three weeks at a time. Initially I will be based out of Hong Kong until I sell my apartment there, then I will be based out of England. The idea of separate trips is to allow me some time to relocate my stuff from Hong Kong to England, and once I have done that I can spend some time with my family rather than just vanishing for a whole year. I have lived in Hong Kong for seven years, so time back home will be part of the adventure too.

Ideas for trips so far:
- Thailand to detox
- Shanghai to stay with my friend Gavin
- Somewhere in Asia when my little brother comes over
- New Zealand
- Greek Island hopping
- Skiing
- A trip with my older brother, Italy I think
- A trip with my Dad (a motorbike tour around Scotland has been mentioned, though I am not sure he is taking me seriously: I need to pass my motorbike test first, and he is getting on a bit)
- South America
- Austria (I stayed there for about 5 days a few years ago and for some reason I keep thinking about it when I plan this trip...just a very relaxing place)
- Las Vegas and California for my friend Mattie's stag / wedding

Right, onwards...
