Post by Miranda Ewing

Since we had so much fun tubing down the snowy hills in Ruidoso we decided to grab our sleds and head to White Sands National Monument on our way to El Paso. We visited White Sands last summer but the sweltering heat was just too much to handle and we didn't stay to play but a few minutes.
Interestingly, I found that February might be one of the best times to visit! We had to change into short sleeves when we arrived, even though I was having to bundle up the girls like little eskimos in Ruidoso, just 75 miles away! We all really enjoyed the afternoon we spent in White Sands. The weather was warm but the soft white sand was cool to the touch. Lily laid still like a little statue while I buried all but her head under the sand. Then we switched because she wanted to bury me, but that didn't last long because she tried to bury my head first!
We brought along the girls' power wheels jeep and Kinley had her four wheeler so the girls spent a lot of the time racing each other and off-roading on the sandy grounds. They loved sledding down the hills as well and Pam and I got plenty of exercise climbing up to just push them down again! How I longed for the electric ramps at the snow park! Sarah impressed me though. She was the one child that was determined to do it all on her own and she would climb the steep hills pulling her own sled every time. However, maybe it just shows that she's a stubborn child because when we tried to show her that it was easier to walk up the side and not up the steepest part she just ignored us and continued to make it the most strenuous on herself!
The only thing that would have made this day better would have been if my hubby could have joined us. Due to his work schedule, he left Ruidoso early in the morning and went straight to El Paso. Im so used to having him around 24/7 since he works from home that I really missed him after just one day! After all that exercise, we were starving, so we packed up and the girls said goodbye to the biggest sand box they'd ever seen and we headed to meet Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Erin at the best taco place in El Paso... Casita Linda's! Yum!
