Post by Jason Ewing

Today we visited Carlsbad Caverns!  A good and long time friend of Miranda's, Pam Bro's decided to bless us with her presence and joined us for a week on our trip!  The adults in the group thought to ourselves what better way to spend the day than take the girls into a giant hole the ground! (We Vetoed the kids idea of the park and ice cream)  Pam contemplated leaving Kinley in the pit, but pregnant brain kicked in and she forgot all about her master plan by the time we reached the bottom.  (Sorry Pam, you're stuck with 2 kids for a while).  Although Lily did almost take a dive off the deep end after not listening to Mommy and Daddy and decided to dance while posing for a picture!  Luckily the cave behind her was flat and she only fell a few inches, but all our hearts skipped a beat on that one.

Overall the girls were very impressed, and Sarah just kept saying Daddy I want to go into the cave!  Of course that lasted approximately 10 minutes, and quickly changed to Daddy I want to go and eat lunch and my legs hurt and I'm tired.  At that point they both had enough of the Caverns, which is surprising to us since they both have an odd fascination with rocks.  Subsequently, Lily suckered Miranda into carrying her for the remaining 2.5 mile journey with her famous ("<Favorite Parent at the TIme> hold you please" and puppy dog eye combination)  - Poor Sarah was forced to walk by mean old Daddy but with the promise of snow in Ruidoso, our next destination, she cheered up.  (Weatherman don't let me down)!

One thing to note, THEY REMOVED THE RESTAURANT from inside the cavern and now only serve drinks and cold nasty sandwiches!  I guess a lot changes in 10 years, maybe I should exercise.
