Where I stayed
310 Guest House

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

I just looked at the card to see the name of the Guest House where I am staying - I just noticed the description on the card....."Our Guest House has......room with large and beautiful toilet with good hygiene"   Looked normal to me.............didn't quite realize it was a feature.
Took the bus from Battambang to PP today -- 5 hours or so, uneventful and full bus - lots of stops to eat and have a pee or grab a quick bag of fresh sauteed grasshoppers with chilles or some fresh pineapple or lots of choices.
I will fill in the last three Battambang days in a bit - sooo busy and filled with fun. Blew the budget though but great experiences, lots of firsts for me and that is getting harder and harder as I get longer in the tooth.....this place delivers.
Bought a little lap top this afternoon, an hour after arriving into town - that and a Loation Visa from a motorcycle shop.  Ok - haven't taken possession of either - hopeful for tomorrow as I did leave a deposit on the computer and left my passport at the bike shop.   There is little room here for not trusting in the universe to deliver because you just don't have the ability, or often the time, to dig deeper other than to trust your gut and your spidey senses.  So far so good - here.
I am hoping to figure out, on my new computer, how to sort my pics and label them - it has been great being able to use this as a travel diary.  I always wished, on other adventures, that I had captured memories as they were fresh.  The days are so full that miss one, you miss the memories until something similar comes around and you get that "hmm, I remember that time when...."
I am in a booth, on the street - listening to an American, about three booths down, talking really really loudly to his grandfather in New England, telling him about his job as a conservationist studying fish and working with Cambodian villages to help them sustain their fish stocks.  Sounds like his grandpa thinks he should come home and stop wasting his time for little salary.   Interesting. I love the whole living in everyone's pockets that happens with street life.  Cool.
Grabbed a tuk tuk home tonight and the City is beautifully lit up - haven't seen it in the daylight but at night it looks a lot like Paris - big monuments in the center of the streets and large squares and promenade.  The tuk tuk driver got lost in the embassy section so I have now seen those magnificent buildings.  And the UN buildings.....wow...gotta get me one of those jobs.....
Off to bed and my beautiful toilet with the good hygiene.......
Love
Deb
