I feel a kind of fresh energy here in this seven by seven city on the bay. There's a sense of urgency and motion, productivity and life, but not in the frantic and rushed kind of way.  People still take time to appreciate a beautiful afternoon, savor a coffee and a scone over a leisurely stroll, walk their dogs to the park and lay out basking in the sun.  It’s a picture of peaceful living - idyllic and simple - but underneath that current of languid luxury rides a tidal wave of energy and youth that pulses through this city.  Silicon Valley fuels the drive for young entrepreneurs, and it shows in the fresh faces that swarm the cracked pavement from the Mission to Haight, and Soma to the Financial District.  Tall limber ladies stroll fashionably past glittering shop windows with their massive sunglasses and leather boots swallowing their legs up to their knees.  Men in business attire forego the suit and tie, instead opting for khakis and a cardigan or ironically skinny jeans.  The weather has been untouchable and every day brings clear skies, sun and a deceptively pleasant 60 degrees.  There’s so much color flowing through every inch of this fair city.  I wonder if people even realize the sea of vibrant pastels they’re swimming through daily.  With open eyes and a mind still tuned to the life of travel, I wander the neighborhoods like a child with a rattle.  Amazed and intrigued at the sight of a wall covered in graffiti, the moving art of wind blowing through green parks and rustling trees, an elegant arm perched on a banister slowly stirring her drink looking out over the sea.  There’s a definite illumination of life in the small intricacies around every corner, past iconic symbols like the majestic Golden Gate Bridge, the ubiquitous San Francisco trolley, the tourist trap that is the pier, and the intoxicating smells of exotic spices in the dimly lit alleyways that wind through the heart of Chinatown.  I let it all unfold before me and explore my new playground, taking a cue from the locals and savoring downtime between bursts of productivity.  It’s a fulfilling way to live peacefully, not mired in your job nor neglecting responsibilities, but finding balance, wholeness, a serene approach to living.  Looking around at the painted scene that surrounds me, I start to feel grounded and rooted in fondness and love for this city.  The sun sets on one journey and rises on another - golden, red, amber, and blue hues color my existence and light the way forward.  I open my eyes to a new day and relish the time spent with family and close friends I haven’t seen in ages.  Grateful for those who welcome me into their home without question or concern.  The kindness of people you love always shines through when it’s needed the most, and I can’t thank them enough for helping me carve out a place in this gorgeous city on the coast…
