After an early departure from Franz Josef I was on the road again and heading towards Wanaka. We stopped briefly at the lovely Lake Matheson, which is one of the most photographed lakes in NZ, and made it to Wanaka in the afternoon. Wanaka is a lovely town over looking Lake Wanaka and quite a popular family holiday destination. I did a walk to the top of Mount Iron to check out the panoramic views which were fantastic. Apparently Shania Twain owns a holiday house here. If its good enough for Shania then its good enough for me!
