I arrived in Adelaide and spent a few nights there with Kevin and Maureen Liston, parents of Mandy who I had met in Melbourne. They're lovely people and I really enjoyed my stay with them. I felt completely spoilt! We visited a few of the McLaren Vale wineries and did some wine tasting. I then sobered up and had a look around the city. Adelaide is pretty compact so its fairly easy to get around the main part of the town in an afternoon.
I then set out on the Stuart Highway for the 1500 kilometre journey from Adelaide to Alice. There really wasn't much enroute other than the bush, some road station, the road trains and the roadkill (mostly as a result of the road trains)
We spent a night in Coober Pedy which is an opal mining town about half way to Alice
The next day it was onto Alice Springs. Alice isn't a very big a town and mainly a stop off point for people going to or coming from Uluru. Theres some shops with lovely Aboriginal art and you can watch them creating the work which was quite cool.
Next stop the much talked about Uluru....
