This weekend adventure started off at the ball diamonds on Thursday night watching the females and males All-Star Game and eating yummy shrimp while watching the games. The next day bright and early, I headed off to the Grand Mall and met up with Brenda, Charles and Jen to go back to the Black and White Desert for Brenda's belated birthday fun. The Black and White Desert is about a 5 hour drive south-west from Cairo. While I was there, I was reminded of the reason why I'm staying another year in this crazy country. The black desert has nothing spectacular about it except for oddly shaped black rocks, the white desert is so much fun to drive around. White desert has huge white rock formations that look like random animals and shapes, and tons of sand to roll around in. The weekend was spent rolling around in the sand, sleeping under the stars, listening to oldie songs, making up words and finding sand in places that never had direct contact with the sand. Also had some really good food prepared for us, including chicken cooked over the fire. Why does all food taste good cooked over a fire? hotdogs, chicken, marshmallows. The list is endless.
Anyways, like every adventure, it has to end with a good meal. As soon as we got back into Cairo, went straight to Subway where I showed some restraint and only ate half of my foot long which I will continue to eat right now.

On more exciting news, have another week off starting on the 17th, so I'll be heading to Greece for the week, where I'll try to navigate around Greece and eat lots of gyros. Yumm, I can't wait!
