Finally, school is off for the holidays, Heritage has graciously given us 3 weeks for holidays, so Kim, Jenna, Dan and I are heading to Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. The plan is to leave for Uganda on December 23rd, we "road trip" it down to Rwanda, fly to Tanzania to do our Serengeti safari for about 5 days, before coming back to Cairo on January 11th. Jenna unfortunately doesn't have the 3 weeks so we need to wait before heading off on the trip of a lifetime. This trip was has hit a few snags when we've been planning, and has unfortunately been a bit more expensive then the intial quoted price, but I'm sure this trip will be amazing. Yesterday we were joking about how we should write a best seller about the trip because of some of the snags we've encountered.

Today's plan was to go to get our yellow fever shot. Previously there was a few scandals where people were paying for a yellow fever shot and was given something else instead. So to tighten regulation, the Minstry of Health has declared that only a few places will administer the drug for a certain amount of time before going to another medical facility. So Jenna, Kim and I headed off to get our shots thinking it would be a walk in the park. But because this is Egypt (TIE), it wasn't that easy. The place we were told that had the shot, didn't adminster the shot anymore and didn't know what the new locations were. Ended up finding out that there was 2 places one place adminstered the shot on Thursday (which doesn't help because we leave on Tuesday), and the other place was at the airport, which they administer the shot on Monday. Also found out that we need to get our Yellow Fever shots 10 days before heading to the high risk areas, if not risk being quarantined for 40 days when arriving back from Cairo. Little scared and worried but what can we do about it? Either take the risk or cancel the trip and not get the money back.

Plan for tomorrow is going to the Uganda Embassy hoping to get a visa in advance. The lonely planet book mentions that it's possible to arrive in Uganda and get the visa, but the lines might be long.
