Birthday Part Deux was a fabulous weekend.
The weekend started Thursday night at Brenda's place where Mike made us dinner of rice-a-ronni and chicken. It was a good meal where the rice-a-ronni may have been made with vodka instead of water...later went to Pub 55 where we met up with some other Canadian teachers and some Americans. Where I tried to milk my birthday for all it's worth and the only thing I got was birthday (pea)nuts which I gratefully shared with the other people I was with. They wanted me to write my name down, I have yet to figure out why they wanted it. Later went to a friend's place that has Wii and played some running game where we had to do stupid-interesting mini-games.
Friday evening was spent at the Hard Rock Cafe and on a felucca. Me and two other girls have their birthdays within a week of each other so we decided to celebrate together
After a full meal of Wings and Sprite, 9 of us headed to a felucca and did a felucca ride on the Nile in Downtown, which is different from doing it in Maadi. Had a good time listening to various songs including some country songs and Hakuna Matatta (sp?) and I think there was some Spice Girls added to the mix as well. So much fun.
Saturday we had our Thanksgiving dinner at the bosses place, where I made a fab (that's what I think) veggie platter. It was a good time there was turkey and stuffing, and cabbage rolls, and dump cake, and ice cream... I think I stretched out my stomach. It was a good evening spending time with co-workers thinking about what we were thankful for..most of the JK and SK teachers were thankful for a music teacher that had been hired.
As Mike said, "You only turn 23 in Egypt once." I had a fabulous birthday, part I on my actual birthday, part II at Pub 55, part III at the Hard Rock. I can only hope for more great birthdays in the future with new friends, old friends....and hopefully family one day.

Hard Rock Cairo
. The Hard Rock Cafe has a fab idea of serving all you can eat Wings and Beer for 100 LE (about $20) or for the non-beer drinkers, all you can eat Wings and Coke for 89 LE. So a bunch of teachers met up at the Hard Rock for some fab times. While we were there, word got out to the staff and the rest of the restuarant that there were 3 birthdays so they made the 3 b-days gals stand on chairs has they sang Happy Birthday for us. We ended up getting a cake from a Japanese tour group (which we later found out when we thanked them, was one of the Japanese's B-day as well). After a full meal of Wings and Sprite, 9 of us headed to a felucca and did a felucca ride on the Nile in Downtown, which is different from doing it in Maadi.
