At noon today we arrived in Aswan, after a 14 hour train ride from Cairo. It's warm in Egypt, but in the train it was Arctic temperatures, we froze so much.
We arrived in Aswan, which lies on the banks of the Nile around one pm. freshend up a bit and by 2.30 we were out and seing the Unfinish Obelisk, ordered to be made by the female pharao Hapshesut, but the Obelisk was never finished as the stone cracked down the middle. After the Obelisk we went to see the Temple of Philae, which is a really nice and not too big temple. This temple, along with two others, was flooded during the building of Lake Nasser and the dam, but a huge UNESCO project, took them to pieces and assembled them on higher ground, so we can still see them to day.
Tomorrow we go to see the Temple Abu Simbel, which was also relocated, along with the cliff out of which it was carved.
Well, gotta get to bed now, we have a 3 am wake-up call tomorrow.
Best, Eva Maria
