Today I got to sleep late for the first time in a very long time and it was wonderful. I got up at 8am as we had to meet at 9am to go to the Monastary of St. Simion. Simion was this crazy guy, who no one really liked so eventually he decided to live on a pillar, whereafter people decided that he was a saint. So they build this huge church, of which all that is left now is the ruins.
Back in Aleppo we went to the Citadel, but first we went for a little lunch which ended up lasting about 2 hours, and cost me a grand total of 200 Syrian pounds (20DKR/2Pound Sterling)
The citadel, but not anything special. After looking around the citaldel we went to the Umayyad Mosque, but we had to hurry through, as we came just before the afternoon prayer, how I just hate to wear those long coats and scarfs, it's synthetic and unbearably warm.
After the mosque, we went to the souq/bazar and looked around, it was everything you could dream of a Middle Eastern souq should be, noisy, busy and aromatic.
Sorry, gotta run now, have to pick up my 215 pound laundry.
Hugs,
Eva Maria
