Show trip route
For our first day in London, we ended up spending almost 16 hrs downtown. We were kind of exhausted after that one. We bought tickets for the Big Bus London Tour so we decided to spend the day with that. Included in the tickets, were 5 free walking tours so we ended up doing 2 of those. We started our day walking around Trafalger Square and Covent Gardens waiting for the first tour to start. We joined the Royal London Walking Tour at 10am and the guide named Frasier took us around to hear about the history of the royal court and then to see an amazing angle of the Changing of the Guard.
After that, we hopped on a bus and rode the 2 different lines around for about 3 hrs until our next walk, the James Bond Walking tour where Frasier again took us around and told us all about Ian Flemming and the real MI5 and MI6
We finished off the evening with a boat tour along the Thames and another really interesting walking tour called the Jack the Ripper Walking tour.
On the way home, we realized it was almost midnight and we had to call my uncle Geoff to come and fetch us, but brilliant Liz forgot the phone numbers at their house so we had to call Liz's house in Mississauga to get the number from her parents.
All in all it was a fun, but exhausting day.
Saturday June 18th, 2005 - REALLY FRIGGEN HOT
After yesterday's trek around, we decided to keep it low key. We slept in a little and Uncle Pete took us to the train station around 9am (as opposed to the 6am start we had yesterday).
First we hit up the London Aquarium which was really cool. Thomas worked up the nerve and even petted a stingray! (see pictures for further proof).
After that we had lunch in Hyde Park and got ready to go and see the Producers which we had gotten tickets to a couple of weeks before. The show was amazing but the theatre was quite old and had no air conditioning or fans so we kind of roasted.
After that it was basically time to head back because we had an exciting event to get to....that night was a Barn Dance and Pete and Dianne's local church that we had been invited to, so we headed back to Fleet and went on to that
That night we also had our first taste of the Vicor of Dibley. Did we like it? No No No No No No No No Yes
Sunday June 19th, 2005 - NOTHING WENT WRONG...YAY!
Since we'd been all over London basically already with our walking tours and our bus tour, we decided to hit up the places we really wanted to see. First we visited HMS Belfast which was really cool except the fake plastic people were kinda creepy. They were posed as people on the ship and looked really scary. haha.
After that we did the Tower Bridge Exhibition which had spectacular views of the city and then went to the Tower of London after.
That night we both went over to Vicky and Nick's to have Chinese food and watch a very funny British Parody show called Little Britian (I'm a LADY)
Monday June 20th, 2005 - SOMEONE CLEARLY DOESN'T WANT US TO GET TO THE APPLE STORE
Today was the longest travel day ever and it clearly wasn't even supposed to be
When we finally got into London, we had just enough time to catch a train to the airport and get to our plane about 20 mins before check-in closed. cutting it close without even wanting to!
But we did make our plane fine and few into Paris....see next entry for stories about Paris.
Gas prices - which is actually called Petrol
