Where I stayed
Even though we had lathered ourselves from head to foot in sunscreen, it didn't take long to feel as though we had been baked. We retreated to the Mediterranean restaurant for some meze and ice cold beer before returning to the hotel for a siesta. The girls hit the pool straight away, and have probably spent more time under water today than on terra firma.
We then all took a leisurely swim from our hotel down to the adjoining beach, which was lovely – I am going to miss the warm sea water. The girls better commit the sight of me swimming in the sea to memory, because it never happens at home, so who knows when they are likely to see it again.
It was a really nice way to spend our last day in Elounda, the time here has flown by at an alarming rate. After hopping from place to place, spending one night here, and two nights there over the past few months, we thought a 6 night stay would be like putting down roots, but unfortunately it is over so quickly.
We spent the evening in the same fashion as all the others since we arrived by eating Greek food overlooking the water. The stuff memories are made of, and ones that we will remember for a long, long time no doubt
We had all intended to have an early night before a comparatively early start tomorrow morning, but when we returned to the hotel we found out that Yannis the manager would not be around tomorrow morning to settle up with. He was due to return this evening at about 11.30pm, which led to Mike having to sit in the bar waiting till nearly midnight for his return so we could settle the bill.
