The girl's usual breakfast at home is baked beans on toast, so you can imagine their delight when we found Heinz baked beans in the supermarket here – clearly due to the English tourist influence. So their day was started for the first time in over three months with baked beans on toast.
After breakfast we headed out in pursuit of the ruins of the ancient city, which you can apparently snorkel around. We weren’t entirely sure where to find them but headed off to explore. It was a mistake that the girls set out walking in their new beach feet, because Sarah had a fairly sizeable blister on her foot within 10 minutes
We found our way to the remains of a 5th Century AD Christian basilica of which only the mosaic floor remains. It was stunning considering its age, but seems a shame that it is left open to the elements now. We then found what we believe are the ruins of the city lost to the earthquake, although we can’t be sure until we get our snorkelling gear on and check it out.
We headed back to the beach and decided against snorkelling today as the wind came up really strong. After persisting on the beach for a while we again returned to the relative calm of the hotel pool. The girls swam for hours again and Mike and I just lazed around drinking pina colada’s and reading our books.
Before long it was time to get ready for dinner, where we again found a nice restaurant overlooking the water
