eunice has a friend, kylie, who lives in NZ. one day she texts us, "do you guys want to come to waihi beach fo the weekend?" we were only about 2 hours drive south so we shifted our plans for the next couple of days and ended up in Waihi beach amongst avocado farms, kiwi fruit orchards and a wonderful beach. we spent that weekend with kylie and her parents (all of whom are the nicest people you will ever meet) taking long walks on the beach, grilling up steaks from their farm, eating fresh baked bread and just sitting around doing nothing but relaxing. with the beach literally a 2 minute walk away, their holiday beach home for us, was such a luxury. kylie and her parents left on sunday evening, but they let us use it for a couple nights! SCORE! it was SO AWESOME having a beach house to ourselves. we spent the time reading, taking walks, and even finished a "where's waldo jigsaw puzzle" (750 pieces! - we'd never have the patience for that back home).
all in all, it was a wonderful weekend. (we did't get to go swimming though because the jellyfish were out in crazy schools. at low tide, they'd wash ashore and i'd never seen so many of them!!)
