Merry Christmas! We drove about 6 hours to arrive to Fox Glacier for Christmas Day. As you probably already read, we celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve with a really nice dinner! So most of this day was spent on the road.

We arrived in Fox Glacier about 3pm, sat around, researched what we should do (pay a ton of money, which is becoming a very common and bad habit in NZ, and do a glacier...or wait until Patagonia in S. America, which would be a lot cheaper). After researching a bit between Fox Glacier, Franz Josef Glacier or Patagonia we still had no idea what to do. So we hopped in our very empty gas tanked car and drove to the car park of Fox Glacier and did a little walk. We thought, we have nothing else to do today and the weather was great, so why not?! We wanted to walk to the face of the glacier, but due to the rain, they had closed it. Bummer, but we were still able to get a great view with great weather! Just check out the pictures!

We decided, we would do another small walk the next day at Franz Josef, but the weather was crappy to say the least. It was pouring down rain most of the day, so we just headed straight out to Greymouth. The weather helped us make our decision to save a bit of money and do the glacier climbs in South America!

Even though it was raining near the glaciers, it ended up being another great day of driving! I'm not sure if Byoung mentioned it or not....but the drives here are FANTASTIC. Even if we drive 6-8 hours, it's not that bad. The scenery here is always amazing!!
