i've expressed how much i LOVE new zealand... one place in particular, for those of you who've been, is Queenstown. as much as i hype this place up, it couldn't possibly disappoint as being over-hyped. it's like nothing you could imagine... beautiful crystal blue lakes, snow capped mountains, wonderful trails, friendly people, and of course the "out of your mind" activities! look at the pics...

we drove into Queenstown on a rainy saturday afternoon... so sad, i was really really worried that eunice's experience of my favorite place would be ruined by rains, gusty winds and frigid cold temperatures... anyways, after checking into our trailer park (are we officially trailer trash now?), we sloshed through the rain to the local i-site (that's their tourist office... every town/city of any importance has one)... thank God! they promised good weather for the next two days, at least. so, with that assurance in hand, we trampled to a recommended eatery called FERGBURGER... a local, one of a kind, burger joint.. much like what Tommy's or In'n out would be to us if there was only one... well, eunice and i decided to go big... as in the BIG AL... beautiful burger.. in taste and in sight.. pure heaven with the works... one pound of NZ beef patty, two fried eggs, beets (i know, they put it in all their burgers), and all the usuals like lettuce, tomato, onions... spliting that was even too much.. we couldn't even finish the freakin' grocery bag of steak fries they threw at us... after committing gluttony (again, in our trip for like the millionth time) we began our research for what activities we would partake in while here in the adrenaline capital of the world....

eunice and i approach these types of adrenaline things in two different ways, but enjoy it just the same... for me, its "let's do it! i love this stuff!"(i think i'm trying to prove something to myself"... for eunice, its more like "i have to do it..." and leading up to it "why the heck do i keep booking these things?!" but like i said, we both enjoy it tremendously... so, we booked two things... eunice booked the LEDGE bungy jump where you jump from a top a mountain with a running start. it's 47 meters of freefall, but seems much higher because you overlook Queenstown from a mountain top. and we both booked the NEVIS ARC. this is the newest creation of Queenstown. basically, you're attached to a swing way up the side of a ravine. then they pull the cord and you swing like a pendulum with a freefall of 120 meters (that would be 400 feet!!!) we also booked a ride atop Queenstown mountain and 5 luge rides...

with all that booked that night, we went to bed full, but cold and hopeful for sunshine the next day.

we woke up to the clearest, sunniest day we could have asked for! God pulled through for us! man, was it beautiful?! up the gondola we went... first up, the luge.... two tracks. first the required scenic track, then the advanced track. the pics make it seem tame and it is... you can see kids doing it. but for stupid dopes like me, i push the bill and try to go as fast as i can... good thing these things don't tip! think of it as a go cart track, but downhill with only you controling your speed! i know, it's fun! the advanced track was nice because it had little jumps :)!

next up, eunice's bungy jump! i sad aside with my camera and watched from the observation deck. it was hilarious! the guy was like, "those are some funny squeals that are coming from your mouth" to eunice. it took her a while but my wife manned up, ran and jumped out over queenstown with the grace of a..... well, let's just say that grace was nowhere to be found... her legs were kicking, there was a weird shrill screaming, yet it was a beautiful sight to watch... (GOOD JOB, EUNICE! i'm proud of you!). she had a wonderful time! enjoy the pics!

the next day, was basically, a bit higher and a bit more of a thrill. almost triple the height, an aberration to your typical bungy, and a whole lot more free fall. even i was like "whoa".. it took my breath away!... after the initial free fall which is absolutely WICKED, you swing next to each other above like 700 feet while they pull you up... let's you know you're alive!...

anyways, enjoy the pics, leave your comments and make plans to head to queenstown!
