Sorry for the lack of updates... i know its been over a week, but eunice and i were unable to get on the computer for very long as we just got back into Malaysia after a week of travel throughout northern Sumatra in Indonesia... but i'll update on that later...there's a bit of catching up to do.

last i wrote, we were in Vientiane, Laos. from there, we took a flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, home of the Petronas Towers... you know these towers... the one that Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Zones climbed across in that one movie where they are thieves?. can't remember the name at the moment.

anyways, the most shocking thing about Kuala Lumpur was how modern it was. driving from the airport into the heart of the city, there were master planned communities, track homes and it all just seemed like Irvine nestled in a much more hilly and lush landscape. the bus that we took from the airport was even plush. it was nice to see the organization of home here in southeast asia, but with modernization comes modernized prices on everything. food costs more, accommodations are almost double to triple the prices of the other SE asian countries. so, eunice and i decided that one night in this major city would be enough.

we walked around town, ate at the night street restaurants, took a long hike over to the Petronas Towers for the obligatory photos (there's a South Coast Plaza sort of mall underneath the towers... BR, Gap, Sony, everything that you could think of from back home including things like Gucci, Versace, etc.... apparently, there is a LOT of money in Malaysia), and then took a bus into northern Malaysia. another cool thing was that we got to go to church before we headed out of KL. we visited a Baptist church near our guesthouse and enjoyed a fun service with special performances from the childrens programs. it was nice to see a church that had been established in SE asia and especially in a muslim strong country like Malaysia... its been there for 46 years!
