This is supposed to be a travel blog, not a general blog, but today I feel the need to remark on the most surprising thing I've encountered about Korea so far. Korea sells all sorts of modern high-tech gadgets like giant, 3D, touch-screen TVs, but no deodorant, at least not in "Korean" stores.

Although I have yet to see any myself, I've heard reliable rumors that it can be found in the "foreign" areas of Seoul (e.g. Itaewon) and other large cities with foreign specialty stores. A less reliable message board mentioned there may even be some really weak stuff available at E-mart (the Korean version of Walmart, but actually more like Target). I had a (hopefully) repaired camera coming from home anyway so I've had what I hope is a year's supply of deodorant added to that shipment.

It's kind of weird that there's no deodorant since just about every other product from home is here. Also, I haven't noticed any smelly Koreans. Koreans just don't seem to need it for some reason, at least not in the winter. It's not like in some countries where they cover-up a lack of deodorant with excessive perfume *cough*France*cough*. Koreans just don't smell. We'll see how well that holds up in the summer, but I certainly couldn't go all winter without it myself. So that points to some genetic lack of smelliness.

While I'm posting about random things, I've included some random pictures of funny or cute stores and products I've taken on random days.
