Today was just a train ride from Vienna to Salzburg. I'm pretty sure my train ride was sponsored by a spa-hotel, given the frequency and prominence of the hotel's name on things around the car. Other than that, the trip was uneventful--at least until I tried to find my hotel. I went to the location on my map, but couldn't find "45A". I located an unnumbered hotel building set back from the street behind "43", but it didn't have the right name. Eventually, I went into the hotel and found out it had changed names in the week since I booked it. Grrr.

One brief hotel complaint (other than the low-key name change). I'm all for being environmentally-friendly, but they took it a bridge too far. They did the usual "tell us if you want to have your towels washed", which is fine. They also had motion sensing faucets on the sinks, which I kind of liked because I didn't need the water running while I soaped-up my hands or looked around for the towel. Where they lost me was a short timer on the shower.

The shower water only ran for 46 seconds at a time (I timed it), then I had to press a button to restart it. It doesn't sound like a big deal (at least it wasn't a pay shower), but it takes me longer than 46 seconds to wash all of the soap out of my hair. Now I've got to grope around for the button while keeping my eyes closed to prevent shampoo from getting in them, or open them and deal with the consequences. It's not enough time to really wash anything. If you want a timer, that's fine I guess, but at least make it a couple of minutes long so guests can fit each of the various phases of their shower into a single stream. I would understand if we were in a desert or something, but there's plenty of water around here. I would hate to stay at this hotel in the winter and get a chilly intermission to my warm shower every 46 seconds. I guess in that case I'd just have to crank up the heater, although glancing around this room, I'm not seeing one of those either...

Yay, travel days. I promise tomorrow's entry will be less cranky...
