Third day in Moscow

We have begun to enjoy lazy mornings so today was no different. We spent the morning at the internet café then left our hotel a little past noon and headed towards Café Pushkin. Once we arrived, we were told that we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table and we gladly decided to do so since the interior was nice and elegant while the servers were all very proper. Once we sat down, we each ordered a three-course pre-fix meal (Lady's menu for Eugine and Cavalier's menu for me). The food was excellent and the service was flawless. (I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Moscow to have lunch there, but make sure you don't look too touristy, cause we did see a French couple getting denied access in front of the door by a bouncer equivalent due to their attire - Eugine)
After the long lunch, we went to visit the Museum of the Revolution, exhibiting 19 - 20th century Russian historical items and art. Although most of the exhibited items were described only in Russian (which we are getting used to now) it was still a worthwhile visit.
After we were done with the museum, we were lost as to what to do next because we had covered so much ground during the first two days, so we headed over to Teatralnaya Ploshchad which is where the Bolshoy theatre is located. Catching a Bolshoy ballet during the summer in Moscow is virtually impossible as they are on tour largely because of government subsidy has diminished significantly (according to our guide book). So we decided to at least check out the theatre from outside. We were greeted not by the beautiful architecture of the theatre but rather by a plastered one due to its renovations. We weren't too disappointed surprisingly. Maybe we are getting used to the Russian way.
We went to McDonald's for dinner and hung out in Red Square. We decided to walk into GUM, a shopping arcade built in the late 1800s. The mall was very upscale with all the major brands. The interior was well-decorated and they also had a small exhibition of Leonardo Da Vinci's drawings and prototypes of his designs. We hung out in the square until it turned dark to enjoy the lit scenery then headed back to our hotel. Tomorrow will be our last day in Europe, and also our one-month anniversary since we departed San Francisco! More thumbnails ...
