Day 13 Udaipur to Goa
We had to check out this morning and store our cases til 3pm. So we read by the poolside for a while then went for a last wander through Udaipur Old Town.
Hot dusty and very noisy - you had to keep a look out in every direction for passing people, cattle and vehicles.
Today's purchase was some ankle bells!
We found the same little Barber and this time Mick had a shave! And what a shave! All kinds of lotions and potions, spraying of water, lathering for ages - then the cut throat razor (new blade!) Not a millimetre of his face untouched! Then - unbelievably a face pack!!! More massage - even sticking his fingers in Micks ears and applying some sort of tens machine to the side of his head - this gave Mick vibrations across his skull and back and his teeth rattled! He said the noise reminded him of when he had an MRI scan! He was doing acupressure involving digging his fingers hard into Micks finger joints as well as arms, shoulders and head - Mick thought his head was being pulled off him!
But I can tell you - his face has never felt so soft!!!
Meanwhile I amused myself by holding a traffic survey! Bear in mind that this was a very narrow little lane. In the 40 minute period there passed the following:
Man with cart- pots and pans - 1
Man pulling cart - empty- 1
Men on foot - 33
Women on foot - 34 (some with baskets on their heads)
Boys - 16
Girls - 4
Cows - 3
Vans - 16
Bikes - 5
Tuktuk- 26
Tractor + Trailers - 2
Cars - 10
Motorbikes / mopeds - 172 (all beeping horns!)

Love your traffic survey - made me smile.

Took a look at Bogmalo Beach on Google Maps: they've built a shiny new airport terminal and the Oberoi, where I stayed in 1987, is now the Bogmalo Beach Resort. Progress, eh! Joet's Cafe seems to be still there - fish & chips, Goan style! Enjoying reading your trip, have fun.
