We awoke around 6am, quick check of the apartment and then carried our extremely heavy bicycles down the 5 flights of stairs. Too early for breakfast we decided we would stop at a fruit vendor on the way to Bang Saen.
The roads were not as quiet as we had thought they'd might be at 7 in the morning, but we stuck to our guns and battled through the rush hour traffic onto the main highway, Sukmavit Road
Nothing really interesting to say about the ride to Bang Saen, we passed a few Wats, stopped for a chicken pie at an Esso and refueled on an iced Mocha. The overall journey including stops didn't take much longer than 3 hours.
We arrived at Bang Saen, a sleepy Thai fishing village at around 11am. We scaled the seafront amazed at how different it was from Pattaya. There was a strong Chinese presence, come for the start of the New Year. We had only found one Guesthouse on the net, and luckily after about 20 minutes we came across it...Nuan's. For just under a tenner (which is fairly expensive in these parts) we got a beautiful twin queen room, balcony, fridge and cable tv included.
Still in disbelief that it was only lunchtime we treated ourselves to dinner overlooking the sea, followed by a much deserved siesta. In the evening we decided that we would cut our break here for just tonight and move onwards to Samut Prakan in the morning, not that Bang Saen wasn't pleasant but Steve was desperate to get on his bike again....
