The short 1hr flight landed in a very small airport, where we were pleased to see our names on a little sign to Waecicu Eden Beach. Our journey would take us by boat a short way around the cove, where 11 bungalows had been built into the hillside.
It felt a little like arriving on the set of 'Lost', sticky and hot, with palm trees and incredible scenery that went on for miles. Only accessible by boat, and with only two other small boutique hotels nearby we were cut off from the rest of civilisation. It is also the low season in Flores, so we had the pleasure of the place pretty much to ourselves
The biggest challenge for us each day was the 5 minute vertical climb to where our bungalow was perched, each time gazing out at the incredible view from our bedroom window whilst regaining our breath.
We ventured out on foot one day along the ridge of the hill to take in the sensational views and landscape. What we hadn't bargained for was the relentless giant sized mosquitoes that would feast on us in the hot and humid weather. We tried our best to go as far as we could, but the weather and giant blood sucking creatures were too much to bare.
Our short stop on Flores made us intrigued to see more of the mainland but that would have to be another time - our next stop would take us to a small secluded island called Kanawa.
