This afternoon, we did a team building activity with our DTS staff. Our school leader put us in pairs and sent us off kayaking down the Waimakariri River. It definitely was a team building experience as every pair flipped over once during the journey. We had to look out for each other, communicate, problem solve together, and coordinate our efforts in order to navigate the river. The river had some spots of white water and a very strong current in some places. There were a few spots on the river where the current caused the kayaks to get caught up in the overgrown trees off of the bank of the river. That is what caused our kayak to flip once, but Nate and I worked together to get back into the kayak and catch almost all of the items floating down the river (although I did lose my hat). It truly was a day of team bonding, adventure, and fun!
