On our long hop from Patagonia to Bolivia we decided to stop briefly in 3 cities: Bariloche, Mendoza and Salta, breaking the trip into tolerable bus rides. Bariloche is the largest city in the Patagonian Andes and sits at the southern end of what is known as the lakes district. It hugs the shoreline of Lago Nahuel Huapi and is surrounded by National Park land. The fair sized city panders to flocks of tourists both foreign and domestic. Much to Erinīs enjoyment, Bariloche is famous for itīs chocolate which it sells from numerous small shops and a few gargantuan "chocolate supermarkets." We purchased a sampler box which disappeared far too quickly. We stayed at a mellow hostel with many interesting travelers to talk to. Our final night it town we were craving pizza and on a whim ordered the "pizza especial" having no idea what came on it. The toppings turned out to be ham, cheese, tomatoes, chopped hard boiled eggs and a flaky meta resembling, but not tasting like tuna; an odd but tasty combination.
