-- I had ZERO jet-lag when I came home, possibly making history as the only person ever not to have the side effects of traveling for almost 19 hours.
-- It is so nice to finally be home with my family!
-- My first meal home was, indeed, Chipotle, however the first things that I ate when I got home were hot fries, mango-aloe juice, and popcorn.
-- I successfully made an Indian dish, fried okra, that Dipti taught me, for my family and they loved it!
-- I have a heart attack almost every time I buy something and silently convert its price in dollars to rupees in my head
-- I try to make Indian masala chai as much as I can, however it really does not taste the same.
-- It was so weird going back up to Troy and seeing everyone. They have all grown up so much over a semester! Things have changed so much. I made some new friends, and got to see some old. I was able to help celebrate the birthdays that I missed while in India and celebrated Okki's birthday!
-- I did a couple house viewings and was unsuccessful.
-- I found an Indian grocery store, Patel Foods, in Manchester. They even sell Limca and ThumbsUp!
-- I got to sit in on my friends' final review. It was about "informal urbanism," very similar to the less fortunate parts of India. I was able to give some insight during the feedback part that was appreciated.
-- I got my nails done with my girls at school and in the same day learned that I like pickles. The list of foods that I like continues to grow
-- I am obsessed with India, much more than I ever would have imagined I would be.
-- I started my internship and am learning just as much as I did last year, and met some new people that are teaching me a lot too.
-- I slowly watched my mehndi disappear over a 2 week period. It was very sad.
-- I miss India so much. I cannot wait to go back.
-- I went to a concert with my best friend since 1st grade, Katherine
-- I never would have guessed just how much I missed working out. I try to go everyday, and have been doing pretty well, thankfully, so that I do not pack on the pounds from how much Chipotle I eat.
But the most exciting thing that I have to share is that...
I finally have a place to live in Troy next semester!
After a long time looking, and many viewings, we, meaning Brittanie and I, finally settled on an apartment in the quaint, downtown Troy. We are right in the hub of the up-and-coming city and are close enough to the shuttle everyday up to our classes on the top of the hill.
I will post some photos of our apartment in its current state. We will get the keys on July 1st when our lease begins. Until that happens, I am trying to plan out my bedroom perfectly, mainly with Indian (inspired) goods. I cannot wait to see it all come to life!
I also started another blog, yes, a third one, for my 2 week trip to Peru. There will be an introduction to the blog as its first post. I hope everyone is having a good summer, even though it still does not feel like it, especially with all of this rain and chilly days.
Until next time,
