Today we're going back. Back to Belgium. Checking out of the hotel we had troubles paying with VISA as connection failed on us multiple times; we were only able to wire transfer small amounts, and after one hour of trying, the system gave up on us completely. The ATM at Novotel didn't like our cards either. Luckily, Herbert and his family were at the counter and they helped us to get the transaction done. Thanks again Herbert for this great help!
We were at Praya Intl Airport just in time, and our Lion Air flight to Denpasar left on time, although we had expected a delay of 1-2 hrs. Arriving in Denpasar at the domestic terminal, we picked up our backpacks and walked to the International departure terminal which is within walking distance. The area between the domestic and intl terminals is full of tourists, tourist restaurants, taxi and porters - quite busy. Our next flight was to Amsterdam, with a stopover in Singapore for fueling. The check-in for this flight opened only at 17hrs. Some time to kill. As we were hungry, we left the Intl check-in hall and looked for a warung. A real local non-tourist warung at Denpasar Intl airport ? Yes, there is.
On the right of the Intl check-in (if you're standing in front of..) and a bit further away is Warung Ayu, frequented by airport personnel and pilots. Difficult to see as it is hidden behind an Apotek.
Good Soto Ayam and sure the other dishes are good too. The atmosphere is relaxed; no touts or money changers around. Honest local prices.
Back to the check-in now. There is no way to get your bags checked in before 5PM. OK lets try online check-in then,...but no internet café or free wifi around.
So anyway, we wait and we are the first to check-in. After passing the airport tax guys and the customs, we walk across the souvenir shops to gate 8. Near gate 8 is the Garuda Dewi lounge, and we buy ourselves in, to be in a more relaxing space, for 125.000 Rp per person (<6yrs is free, <12yrs half price: drinks, food and free wifi, +shower if you want). Diewertje is already on Facebook chatting. The KLM flight is there and we board with little delay to Amsterdam.
