Our train pulled into Barcelona for a second time and I was refreshed after 12 hours of sleep. It was much needed rest because before that night, I hadnīt slept more than 5 hours for the past 4 nights. We are back in Barcelona because Rachealīs plane flied out of here and it is nice coming back to this town. I didnīt think I had enough time the first time and Iīm happy to be back here again. We checked into our hostel which is surprisingly close to our old hostel and very nice for only 20 Euros a night. We dropped off our bags and then headed out to get lunch at the local market here in Barcelona.

Knowing our love for markets, I donīt know how we possibly missed this one on our first trip through Barcelona. It makes the Pike Place Market look like the Smokey Point 7-11. It is filled with fresh fish stalls that have every kind of fish you could possibly imagine and some that you probably couldnīt, olive stands, fresh fruit stands, butcher shops, and cheese stands. It was pretty overwhelming and it took us an hour to walk through it but we got everything we could think of for lunch and then headed to the Barcelona zoo. We heard it is one of the top zoos in the world but were a little disappointed. It had everything you would want in a zoo with tons of different species but it didnīt seem like the animals were kept in the best conditions. It makes you appreciate the work the Woodland Park Zoo puts into making sure the conditions for the animals are as close to natural as possible. The one highlight of the zoo was the dolphin show. We were almost first inline but when we got inside, Racheal didnīt want to get wet so Ryan and her sat away from the water. I, on the other hand, was surrounded by a bunch of little Spanish kids and their parents in the front row. I felt a little out of place being the only one over 12 taking up a spot on the front row but it was still pretty cool. It was like any other dolphin show but this time I was within arms reach of the dolphins which made it that much more entertaining. I was kinda pissed when they picked a 10 year old sitting next to me as a volunteer trainer instead of myself. Did they really think that little brat could be a better dolphin trainer than me? I could have made that dolphin do tricks that they had never even thought of.

After the zoo, we attempted to go to the Barcelona casino but our efforts at gambling were thwarted. It is as if the Europeans really donīt want people to gamble. First you need a passport(which kept us out of one previous casino), then you have a dress code to abide by which means that we couldnīt gamble because we didnīt have pants on and Racheal was wearing sandals. What kinda casino is this? Donīt they realize that we want to lose our money to them? We still havenīt had a chance to gamble but one of these days, we might actually figure a way into these places. After our gambling attempt was rebuked, we went out for dinner at a restaurant that had nice ambiance but sub par food. We were willing to pay a little extra for the atmosphere of sitting outside in the Barri Gothic district of Barcelona but we still expected good food. The meal was a little disappointing but I guess you canīt always find the best places. Today we are going to take it easy and lay out on the beach and then tomorrow probably do the same thing because that night we take a train to Pamplona. That is right, in 48 hours I will be in Pamplona for the Running of the Bulls. I canīt believe it is that close. One of the craziest celebrations in the world and I will be there in less than 2 days. I just hope to live to see the next week(Iīm just joking mom!).
