Our hostel is aptly titled Durty Nelly's and it lives up to its name. My least favorite hostel so far, it is above an Irish Pub and is just gross. My impression of the place might have been a bit better had they not been installing new countertops in our room and painting every bathroom door in the hostel. This means that they had junk strewn all about our room until 10 o'clock on the night we arrived and you couldn't close the bathroom doors because the pain wasn't dry. What a sweet treat that was
Due to the fact that our hostel was smack dab in the middle of the red-light district, we didn't have to walk far to experience what brings a majority of Amsterdam tourists to the city. It is even crazier than people say it is. "Coffee Shops" are everywhere and in the Red Light district, it is amazing how many prostitutes line the streets. What is really cool is that they are pretty hot. Whenever I think of street walkers, I think of haggard crack addicts but these women were gorgeous.
So our last day in Amsterdam we spent wandering the town for hours. I mean we got lost and walked for like 5 hours trying to find our way back to the city center. That wasnt a whole lot of fun but that night we went out to the Anne Frank house which made up for the huge walk around town. I was amazed at how powerful it was. I havent read the book in years and yet the museum and her story was captivating.
We spent the last night at that lame hostel and left early the next morning for Rotterdam.
