Sabaidee!!!

So we left Luang Prabang last Thursday to make our way to Vang Vieng.  This city is right by a river and it is very popular to go down the river tubing.  WE met a few irish people and 2 australian girls on the way to Vang Vieng and decided to go tubing with them.  We hired a tuk tuk that brought us to the river. This is ther rainy season so the river is quite high and the current quite strong! so we were flying!  There are bars on the side of the river with tarzan ropes that you can swing on.  The owners throw you bamboo sticks that you hold on to and they drag you to their restaurant against the current.  It was quite the crazy day and fun was had by all.

The next day we went kayaking down the same river but we started higher.  It was quite intense with some pretty good rapids since it's the rainy season but we didn't tip so good for us.  We also visited some caves on a tube but it had rained so much in the last few days that the water level was really high and our head were pretty much touching the roof of the cave and it was so dark!!  Vang Vieng is a pretty chill city.  Lots of young people come to it for the tubing.  The restaurants are almost all designed as booth/beds to watch tv where Friends and Family guy plays alllll day!! We didn't do much else after teh kayaking but watch friends adn family guy!!

Yesterday, we thought we would change it up a bit and instead of taking the bus we would kayak down to the next city, Vientiane which is the capital of Laos.  The river had some crazy currents, rapids and pretty intense whirpools.  Sean and I are pretty pround to say that we are the only ones taht didn't tip in our group but let's face we are Canadians and after all we invented the canoe!! ahahha.  It was good fun in the rapids but some other people were pretty scared as they tipped and got stuck in the whirpool spinning around and brought to the bottom of the river! there was still a lot of transit by car tho even with this method of moving to the next city.  So overall, it was fun but we think we paid too much for it but oh well!

We arrived in Vientiane at about 6h30...see next entry for the not so fun story that was waiting for us!
