We arrived in the evening so booked our kayak tour for the following day and parked the campervan up for a night in the wild. It was a chilly night, made bearable with lots of thermal layers, two duvets, a hot water bottle and an incredible view of the stars…millions of them!
The following morning we arrived early to meet our kayaking guide, Rosco. Rosco was clearly passionate about his job and really loved the wildlife to, this really added to the day as he was clearly as excited as we were, when after only 20 minutes we were fortunate to encounter dolphins swimming around us, right under our boat
After 5 hours of paddling (hope you’re impressed Matt) we headed back to get warm and dry. We were surprised to hear off Roscoe that most people don’t run the kayak tours in winter due to the cold conditions, however apparently this is the best time for seeing the wildlife and the water is actually clearer. With the right thermal gear and the help of some poggies (loved them Matt) and a good paddling pace, we were easily warm enough!
The rest if the evening consisted of fajitas under the stars for tea and a very early bed time…6.30pm!
