On the way to Kings Canyon we saw the country burnt out in some areas. Before getting here we knew that around Alice Springs there are many fires. It is due to the temperatures being warmer every day and the possibility of fires is increasing. The smoky weather was still present so we did not know what to expect next day.
In Yulara we started seeing end of the tourism season. The caravan park there was not too much occupied. In King Canyon Resort it was almost empty. Just a few caravans or trailers and that was all. It is due to the hot temperatures starting from October.

We had a small rain at night and next day the smoke disappeared. We were ready for a walk to Kings Canyon. The walk started from the car park and it did not seem to be encouraging for us. At the beginning, the canyon is hidden by nearby rocks so we did not know what to expect. First part was a step climb on stairs. Nell was complaining as in last three weeks we did not do much walking and she was not used to it anymore. However once we got up, the walk had eased and was better and better later on. We could appreciate different rock formations and not far later, the canyon had revealed its magnificence. The views were really spectacular as the canyon walls were high and straight with many abysses. It is not difficult up there to fall off the cliff! Since that time we could see more or less the canyon with its beautifulness. We also took a small walk down the gorge called 'Garden of Eden'. It ends at the waterhole where we could have our lunch surrounded by the canyon. Rest part of the walk was climbing up on wooden stairs to get to the other side of the canyon. After that we could still see everything but this time from the other side. Later on, the walk was going slowly down and after 4 hours in total we were down at the car park. Definitely it was worth going there. We had a great time again!
