I then had an hour and a half to kill at Brussels. I was going to go and try and find somewhere to get some lovely Belgian frites as I've been dreaming about their crispy outsides and fluffy centres since I was last in Belgium, but I ended up just getting a Subway, and practised my schoolgirl French on the woman behind the counter. I did ok! Then it was the Thalys to Cologne....
