This is the one trip which Aidan and I decided was not going to be missed and as a result have had to plan our whole South American trip around it!
Day 1 involves a quiet relaxing tour of Cusco and a taste of some climbing at Ollantaytambo. The history of Ollantaytambo is based on a most famous hero in the indigenous resistance(Inka Pachacutec) who maintained the walled Cusco for months. To cut a long story short...After a bloody combat it was a great victory for the Inca.
Cusco is the ancient capital of the Incas and is an amazing city with an outrageous nightlife, but more on that later in the blog...
Unfortunately there are not as many photos as we would like here and that is down to a technical area when I was putting up the photos...I said load and the computer misheard me...thinking I said, 'delete.' Bit of disaster but I think the Machu Pichu photos are mostly safe...
So setup in our group, about 15 of us...mixture of Americans, Australians, 2 Irish and you've guessed it...Scandanavians...seriously they´re everywhere folks! Anyway, a night in Ollantaytambo then 6 O'Clock start the next day for our 50km adventure...and I refuse to be at the back of our group.
