Hi everybody! We've had lovely weather since leaving Spokane and it's warming up nicely. From Wilbur we went to see Grand Coulee Dam, on the Columbia river. It's an awesome structure a mile across, 450ft thick at the base and 550ft high (3x more concrete than the Hoover Dam). Whilst there we met a very interesting Russian barber, called Igor, who cut our hair. Leaving there we cycled through some very interesting countryside along Banks Lake. Photos to follow (if we can manage it!). Stayed in Coulee City overnight. Fri. 13th was tough! We had 50 miles of strong headwind, only 8.7mph av. Our slowest day yet, and we were knackered! Arriving in Waterville and NO motel, we were stuck. We had to stay in the Waterville Hotel, nice!! Sat. turned out sunny and calm so we had a brilliant cycle to Leavenworth - a Bavarian themed town in the Cascade Mountains, just like Austria. Had a day off the bikes and enjoyed the atmosphere there. We had a cabin alongside the river where we sat on our balcony, in perfect weather, watching the whitewater rafters go by. Today we climbed Steven's Pass (4061ft), our last Pass before Seattle. Yahoo!  In 3 days we hope to be in Vancouver Island. Love to you all. xx
