Black Hills Of Dakota
Well folks, the high plains drifters have eventually made it to the hills. Left Kimball (sun) on a lovely frosty morning and a light tail wind. Had a brilliant 47mile cycle seeing a herd of buffalo, cowboys on horseback herding their cattle, and some WOW!!! (canyon type scenery) on entering Scotts Bluff county. One night at Scotts Bluff, and we were off again into a fairly stiff head wind for 2 days covering 139miles. We're in South Dakota in a town called Hot Springs. It's lovely, just like Scotland. We've had a lovely rest day today exploring the town by foot and swam in the natural hot springs pool. We were having lunch in a cafe when an 'Oglala Sioux' indian man asked Eoin for directions to a lake near here. Ironic or what! Anyway, he was a real character and his name was Daniel Long Soldier. He's a grandson of 'Red Cloud' who fought against Custer, and was willing to do battle with Eoin ( in jest). Well, we must go and eat again, then we set off to a town called Custer tomorrow. PS we've clocked up over 1000miles now.
