Today we took a road trip through Bavaria to visit neuschwanstein
castle. We took the scenic route along the lake to get there and we
could really better appreciate the scenery this way. I took many
pictures along the way. We stopped at a beautiful chapel along the
way (can't remember the name). Anyway, I believe arvid said it was in
the rococo style and was quite ornate. There were many paintings and
sculptures inside.
We next arrived at the castle - there are actually two castles to see
in the area - I imagine both are worth a look. But we made our way up
the mountain to get some pics of king Ludwig's fairy tale home. It
really could hardly be on a better spot! It is surrounded by the alps
and the view from inside must be really amazing. We ended at a bridge
that had an awesome view of the castle - breathtaking!
We stopped for lunch at a small beer garden (if seems they are
everywhere in this area). Rob & arvid had the famous pork leg, while I
opted for a simple chicken. Quite good, though.
When we got back to the lake near arvids house, we decided to do a
quick cruise along part of the lake. This was very relaxing and seemed
like a good option after the strenuous hike to the castle. The lake is
very nice and they seem to really like these paddle wheel steamers....
We finished the day at a lovely beer garden right next to the
lakeside. We had some really tasty chicken and of course the biggest
beers you have ever seen (okay, so i had a monster coke)!
