We checked out of the hotel promptly at 10am. Then it was down to the
train station to procure a locker for our bags. These lockers are going to get a bit pricey!
On this day we wanted to take in a bit of the beauty that is Stockholm
so we opted for a boat tour around the city. Stockholm is composed of
a bunch of islands so the water is very much the highlight here. The
tour was interesting and gave us further insight into the city. We
stopped at the Vasa Museum along the way. The museum I'd very
impressive - as you walk in you are standing in front of this HIGE
ship! The ship was close to 400 years old and they only recently pulled it from the bottom of the harbor. It suck its first time out!
And the museum details all kinds of things about thf ship and
the sorts of people who would have been on of. Hopefully my pictures
do it justice.
Then it was off to the ferry terminal to board the ship to Finland !
This was rather exciting for me as that is the land of my mom's family.
The ship was huge! They really like their boats up in these parts...
Anyway, the ride out of Stockholm was great. The archipeligo was
absolutely breathtaking! We set up top for quite a while taking in the
view. But as it started to get dark, it got pretty cold awfully fast!
Otherwise the ship was fine - we even saw this crazy Indian show (what
in the heck is bollywood?)
Next stop - Finland!
