St. Moritz has patented the slogan 'Top of the World' and they boast having 322 days of sun/year. It is considered one of Switzerland's premiere ski resorts. There are two sections to the town: St. Mortiz-Dorf and St. Moritz-Bad... we stayed on the Dorf side
The things we enjoyed most about our stay here were: walks around and ON the lake (still not sure how they keep the center frozen when the edges are thawed), window shopping at the many upscale shops, going to the beautiful library in the center of town (they had lots of English books and even some for sale!), skiing the extensive slopes of Corviglia (the ski region most easily accessible from town) with it's many intermediate and immaculately maintained runs, the excellent restaurants (Lots of diversity!) and the great chocolate! Our favorite outing of the week consisted of a nighttime horse-and-sleigh ride around the lake (St. Moritz is beautiful at night) followed by a traditional fondue dinner. It was a most memorable experience.
Some of the things that we did not like about this resort were: the crowded slopes (especially after 11am), the very long lift lines (worst we've experienced all season), and the near-obnoxious display of wealth (both on and especially off the slope). We also were disappointed by the whole global warming phenomenon that is impacting the extent of snow and quality of skiing - we think that this may be our last week on the slopes.
