Not a huge amount happened today - the bus didn't pick me up from Curio Bay until 5.30pm which made me have a panic attack because the last driver told me between 3pm and 5pm so I thought they'd forgotten about me!!! didn't want to have to spend another 2 nights in curio bay really as lovely as the penguins are!
Anyway it finally did pick me up and we went through to Invercargill without really stopping - Invercargill is pretty much as far south as you can go in the world apart from two small towns right at the bottom of Argentina without going to the South Pole. Its a pretty big Place and is actually where they filmed the fastest Indian which starred Anthony Hopkins (never heard of it before I arrive here but apparently its pretty good) - The family of the guy who broke the speed record - Burt Munro - own the local hardware store in town and the actual bike that he rode is displayed on a railing in the hardware store because they wanted to keep it in the family as opposed to donating it to the local museum which has a shrine to him - so thats Invercargill's claim to fame! Didn't really get to see much of the place though because we arrived pretty late and I was really hungry so I ate, caught up with my washing, chatted to mum - sorted out where I would be sleeping for the next few nights and went to bed!!!!
The hostel that I stayed in here was great - Tuatara Backpackers -warm, friendly and it even had hot showers which is always an added bonus!!!
