Its Bloody well raining!! So there really isn't much to do here when the weather is good but when its wet there is absolutely nothing added to the fact that its windy too and you can't even really sit outside under a shelter then boredom is gonna set in sooner or later!!!
My plan for today was that I was gonna take a long walk along the beach and I got showered ready to do that, read my book for a while and had some breakfast. I thought when I got my camera and bag that the weather looked slightly ominous but it changes so quickly here that its kinda impossible to know what's happening so I went down anyway - as soon as I got near the beach I could see the waves were really rough which I guess is never a good sign -for some reason Tsumani keeps going through my head dunno whether they actually get them in this part of the world or not, never heard of it this far south but hey waves are waves and I guess they travel where ever the wind takes them - anyway there was no Tsunami
So I did walk a little way along the beach - wanted to see what was round the corner because there is a little bay somewhere just up from where I am, about a 20 minute walk and it was windy but it wasn't raining - passed the ignorant South African guy on the beach - he reminds me of a guy who works in Kentucky at home just to look at only that guy is gay! Round the corner was another small bit of beach and then another corner - there were some people having a bit of a rough time on some Kayaks in the distance and I really wanted to see what was round the other corner but when I turned to look back where I'd come from the tide was coming in pretty fast and looked like the beach was gonna get cut off so I decided to turn back and be safe rather than sorry later - I figured that I have plenty of other days here to walk along the beach!
I wandered back to where I had come from and the SA guy was sitting with some local lads in the trees no doubt smoking something they shouldn't be. I went to the little cafe I'd spotted the first time I'd walked along the road to get some lunch - I think its gonna be cheaper to eat out than keep buying food in all the time but I'll see how things pan out - food was okay the menu was pretty americanised and basic cafe food like sandwiches and cakes so I ordered a sandwich and a diet coke and read my book there for a while - it did start to rain not in a major way but its that type of rain that is thin and never ending and makes you really wet so I ate slowly hoping that it would stop by the time I had finished and it did
Thought I better head back up the track to the hostel cos I can imagine that the track will only turn into a mud bath in the rain and although its only the top part that is steep I don't fancy trying to get up that in the wet. Checked my email first - thats another things that's pretty expensive here $9 for an hour and they only have internet terminals at the beachside hostel so can't even check emails on the hillside - how rubbish is that! The other things thats bugging me is that there is no wi fi here, not that I wanna keep an eye on all my emails but just to curb the boredom it'd be nice to surf the net, do some more research on New Zealand or something just to pass the time while it rains....

. But there were pretty big waves for The Cook Islands standards (apparently) The waves looked amazing the colours were awesome and I tried to get the colours in a picture but not really sure whether I did - as I have plenty of time on my hands I'll check!
