Bonjour
So I have arrived safely in Montreal. I cheated and got a taxi from the bus station to the hostel because I couldn't actually see the street on the map that I looked at and neither could the driver! but we eventually found it in a tiny side street in the heart of old Montreal. The hostel is called "The Sous Bois" and its really lovely. When the taxi dropped me off I thought it looked like it was a little small for a hostel but its also a hotel and the front part is the hotel and behind it is the hostel.
Its like stepping back in time. There is a little court yard with old wooden gypsy style caravans which appear to be the private rooms in the court yard and the dorm rooms are behind them and all the bunks are hand built from wood with curtains making them private the place is so nice I think I'm gonna like it here
There is still no where for me to be able to upload photos though and I think that this could be an ongoing problem but a few people have laptops here so I might ask if I could do it on their laptops - I'll see what they say!
So I don't have anything big planned for today because I am so tired but I'm gonna venture outside the hostel in a bit and see if I can find some food and maybe a shop which sells Canadian SIM cards because my english contract should finish today. I just need to find a map of Montreal to make sure that I can get back okay......
a word of warning for anyone coming to Canada is that although you can use Visa in the shops its really hard to find somewhere to withdraw money using a Visa card. The only bank that I found that allowed Visa was CIBC all the others allow Mastercard, Cittrus and Maestro but not Visa so either get a second card or make sure you know where the CIBC banks are!!

Le Sous Bois
. I'm booked in for 2 nights but I think that I might stay longer. I haven't ventured into town yet because I was so tired after the bus journey that I just found my bed and jumped in it and I've just got up and showered and had a proper look around the dorm area. Most things are free here which makes a change from having to pay for everything like in the states. The internet is free, breakfast is free, coffee is free, laundry is free. There is still no where for me to be able to upload photos though and I think that this could be an ongoing problem but a few people have laptops here so I might ask if I could do it on their laptops - I'll see what they say!
